Acid/base balance. Below 7.0 corrodes equipment, above 8 reduces chlorine.

Total alkalinity

Buffer that keeps pH stable. Too low = pH swings; too high = scaling.

Cyanuric acid (CYA)

Chlorine stabilizer. Sun burns chlorine off fast without it.

Calcium hardness
